Captain Stven S. Sanbar was appointed to the LEIU Secretary/Treasurer position by the General Chairman in March 2010.  Captain Sambar was appointed to the the Los Angeles Police Department in February 1985 and began his career at Harbor Area.  He promoted to sergeant in March 1996, detective in April 1997, lieutenant in December 2004, and captain in 2009.  As an officer, his assignments included Harbor and Van Nuys Patrol, and Metropolitan Division.  As a detective, Captain Sanbar was assigned to Van Nuys and Detective Support Division.  As a sergeant, his assignments were in Hollywood, Foothill, and Internal Affairs Division.  After promoting to lieutenant he was assigned to West Valley Area Patrol, West Valley and Devonshire Gang Impact Teams, and West Valley Area Detective Division.  Upon his promotion to captain, he was assigned to Topanga Area Patrol.  In 2010 he was assigned as the Captain in charge of the Major Crimes Division.  Captain Sambar was born and raised in the Los Angeles area.  He attended Los Angeles Valley College in Van Nuys and obtained an Associate of Arts Degree.  In January 1983, he was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge.
