Course Overview

OSINT LogoThis one-day course focuses entirely on free software solutions to aid Internet investigations. For those of you who have attended the LEIU/IALEIA Annual Training Event for the past several years--it picks up where Michael Bazzell's live conference sessions have left off. He will demonstrate and distribute a custom software pack with over 40 free tools that will aid an investigator/analyst during any type of investigation. A custom portable web browser will be given to each participant that includes configured plugins and custom JavaScript that add new search features. These include automated reverse image identification, embedded media download, instant screen capture, video filmstrip view, instant archive retrieval, and many more. Additionally, the browser is configured to block website analytics that can divulge sensitive information about the searcher. Other software includes tools that archive entire Twitter and Instagram accounts, allow portable versions of Chrome to run, display historical versions of satellite mapping data, change your IP address, extract still images from videos, collect bulk online videos, identify metadata within online media, view archived location data from networks, and much more. This entire pack is portable and needs no installation or administrative rights to the computer. It will work on any Windows machine. Attendees will have full permanent lifetime access to the entire collection of software demonstrated during the session. This will include all future monthly updates. It is a tool that attendees will use for the rest of their careers.

Michael will also explain the entire procedure of setting up a virtual smart device on your computer. The computer program will have the appearance and function of a smart phone. This application will allow you to replicate every mobile app and anonymously search user information. GPS spoofing will allow you to create the appearance of being at any location of interest and geo-based apps will allow you to monitor individuals at the location. An investigative virtual Android device will be created live in the class and can be replicated by each attendee. All apps will also be installed and configured during this session. All links, resources, and data will be available to every attendee.

Previously, this training was only available as the third day of Michael’s entire course. This custom session will ensure that those with limited time can start using his custom software pack right away. It will make your content collection process much easier. Computers are NOT required, and the fast-paced course will be lecture style. It will be a very full day of practical content.

Although this training is being held in conjunction with the LEIU/IALEIA Annual Training Event in New Orleans, LA—it is a separate training effort and the registration and costs must be maintained separately. We have, however, made the registration as easy as possible. Registrations for both training events can be found on the LEIU website at www.leiu.org.
