Mission Statement
The Law Enforcement Intelligence Unit Foundation is a nonprofit institution, designed to appropriate funding to support the law enforcement community involved in the Criminal Intelligence process.
The Executive Board of the Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Units (LEIU) founded the Law Enforcement Intelligence Unit Foundation in 2002. The purpose of the foundation is to provide funding for the support of member agencies engaged in criminal intelligence activities in combating organized crime and terrorist organizations. The Law Enforcement Intelligence Unit Foundation provides administration support and an avenue for the public, including both businesses and individuals, to make contributions to benefit LEIU member agencies. Foundation funding is designed to supplement, not supplant, funding provided by government agencies for police services or equipment for LEIU member agencies.
The LEIU Foundation supports the proper use of criminal intelligence information to:
- Enhance community policing efforts
- Enhance public safe
- Focus resources on law enforcement priorities
Citizens and corporations are productive when public safety is enhanced. The Law Enforcement Intelligence Unit Foundation will provide training and technology to LEIU member police departments and other law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies throughout the world to ensure public safety.
- Identify individuals and organizations interested in becoming benefactors
- Establish strategic partnerships with individuals and organizations with a common missions and values
- Solicit grant and foundation funding
- Solicit donations to further the good works of the LEIU

The LEIU Foundation is a nonprofit public benefit corporation within meaning of Section 501 (C) (3) of the IRS Revenue Code and a California registered nonprofit corporation.
In any community, the most important factor impacting public safety is the willingness of citizens to reject the notion that crime of any sort is acceptable in their community. The LEIU Foundation seeks to encourage this spirit by providing a mechanism for citizens and businesses to participate directly in maintaining safe communities.
